I don’t often respond to requests for review. However, when I received a copy of Life to the MAX, I knew I had to contribute my two cents worth.
MAX is truly a great read. As the author says, “ We are all sent to this earth to learn certain lessons and our teachers can come in surprising forms.” Max is some teacher!
There are great moral lessons to be learned in life and we learn them here through the eyes of an Airedale Terrier named Max. His deep insights into the human condition and everyday life reflect those of some great philosophers--only Max barks them out in everyday terms that we can understand and integrate into our own value system.
The book is enhanced by illustrations by Terry Rohrs that make Max come alive as a true personality.
What we have here is a true winner and a worthwhile read for the whole family.

Each time I read Life to the Max, I find myself smiling, nodding, tearing up, laughing and feeling grateful. You'll love the pictures, bright colors, and Max's 20 Maxims (#3 and #14 really got to me). Max's enthusiastic nature and how he raises his family through the travails of life will stay in your heart forever.
A great book for families dealing with life-threatening illnesses, adoption, aging, sibling rivalry, and end of life issues. For your children, grandchildren and the child in you, buy this book!

I have just read one of the best family books that I have ever seen on owning a dog--the joys, the issues, the responsibilities, the obligations, the emergencies, and the decisions involved. It covers the entire life of Max, an Airedale Terrier who was adopted by Robin and her husband, from the time he was surrendered to a shelter when he was seven months old to the time he was helped to pass at the end of his life. And the story is told in the most down-to-earth, sensitive, loving writing you can imagine. Children and adults will love this storybook.
All 20 of the maxims and stories are as well thought out as the first. Through these maxims, you learn about Max, but more importantly, every reader of every age learns important life lessons in the context of caring for a dog and relating to a dog.
I heartily recommend this book to everyone, and especially to families with children and grandchildren. The story is well written and charmingly illustrated. Max comes alive through the words and pictures, and the lessons learned are unforgettable.

Love Life to the Max!
By Lynn Swanson (Pentwater, MI)
A fabulous book from a dog's perspective on living “Life to the Max.” I laughed, cried and was overwhelmed with joy after reading this book. Max could be any type of dog from a purebred to pound-hound or a puppy to an elderly friend. The author, Robin Reynolds, tells Max's stories through his eyes and she didn't miss a heartfelt moment. I highly recommend this book not only to dog lovers, but lovers of life.
A Book to Treasure
By Joan Waters (Tempe, AZ)
I enjoyed this book on so many levels...its humor, compassion and warmth would appeal to a wide audience of humans. And of course for dog lovers. I gave it to a friend who has enjoyed sharing it with her family. As an artist, I especially liked the colorful photos and graphics which added to the story.
A Fan Letter for MAX and his Author
By Rita Robinson Brown "Rita the reader" (Tucson, AZ )
Max's story is dear to me because I have two Airedale Terriers, and the author captures the unique, energetic, playful personality of the breed. But Max's story is not just a bit of fluff: Max's ideas about how to live well are very helpful to the "uprights," human beings who own them. I highly recommend the book for Airedale Terriers and their owners.
Lovely Story

Love the graphics
By Susan Lindberg (Chandler, AZ)
What a wonderful, positive and heart-warming book told from the family dog's perspective. The author did a super job of relaying the incidents true to the objective. The graphics and pictures made it come to life. Definitely a book to refer back to from time to time. Makes a great gift for anyone who loves animals - I have given it to 4 people already!
